For the cookies:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 2 eggs whisked
- ⅓ cup oil
For the Frosting:
- ½ cup butter
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
For the Cookies:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the chocolate cake mix, whisked eggs, and oil in a mixing bowl. Stir until well combined. The dough will have a thick consistency, similar to traditional cookie dough.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared cookie sheet using a cookie scoop or a spoon.
Place the cookie sheet in the oven and bake for approximately 7 to 8 minutes. Keep a close eye on them to prevent overbaking.
Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the cookie sheet for 4 to 5 minutes. This helps them set before transferring to a cooling rack.
Repeat the baking process until all the dough is used. This recipe typically yields around two dozen cookies.
For the Frosting:
In a small saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa, and milk.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk the mixture until the butter has melted and everything is well combined.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and gradually whisk in the powdered sugar. Continue whisking until the frosting is smooth and has a spreadable consistency.
Once the cookies have completely cooled, it's time to add the finishing touch.
Pour the prepared frosting over the cookies, spreading it evenly using a knife or the back of a spoon.
Allow the frosting to set before serving; if you can't wait, dig in immediately!
