Carrot Casserole: A Delicious Twist on Cooked Carrots

Carrots have long been a beloved vegetable, often enjoyed in various cooked forms. Their natural sweetness and vibrant color make them versatile in many dishes. If you’re a fan of cooked carrots, get ready to take your taste buds on a delightful journey with this Carrot Casserole recipe. Adding some fall flavors and a crunchy breadcrumb topping, this dish will surely become a favorite on your Thanksgiving menu or any time you crave a comforting and flavorful side dish.

To make Carrot Casserole, you need the following:

Tools:

  • Cutting Boards
  • Chef Knife
  • Saucepan
  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • 9×13 Baking Dish

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds fresh carrots, sliced
  • 1/2 cup grated onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring it’s nice and toasty for your Carrot Casserole creation.

Start by cooking the carrots until they reach an al dente texture. Fill a pan with salted water, add the sliced carrots, and bring it to a boil. Allow the carrots to cook until tender, but retain a slight crunch. Once done, drain the carrots and transfer them to a buttered 9×13 baking dish.

Next, gently stir the grated onion into the dish with the carrots, ensuring the flavors are evenly distributed.

In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise, horseradish, fresh parsley, and grated cheddar cheese, and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Stir the mixture well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined, creating a creamy and flavorful sauce.

Spread the mayonnaise mixture over the carrots and onion in the baking dish. Use a spatula or the back of a spoon to smooth it out and ensure it covers the entire surface.

Now, it’s time to add some delightful texture to our Carrot Casserole. Mix the bread crumbs and melted butter in a small bowl until the crumbs are evenly coated. Sprinkle this breadcrumb mixture on the mayonnaise layer, creating a tantalizingly crunchy topping.

Place the baking dish in the oven and let the Carrot Casserole cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top turns golden brown and crispy.

Once the casserole is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. The aroma filling your kitchen will be simply irresistible!

Serve the Carrot Casserole alongside your favorite Thanksgiving dishes or as a satisfying side any time of the year. The combination of tender carrots, creamy and tangy sauce, and the satisfying crunch of the breadcrumb topping will have everyone asking for seconds.

In Conclusion:

This Carrot Casserole is a fantastic way to elevate the classic cooked carrot dish and add a twist of fall flavors to your table. The creamy, tangy mayonnaise sauce, with the tender carrots and crunchy breadcrumb topping, creates a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that will leave you craving more. Whether you enjoy it as part of your Thanksgiving feast or as a standalone side dish, this recipe will surely delight your taste buds and bring comfort to your table.
