Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love spending time with family and the Christmas traditions. When I was young one of my favorite things to do was change the date on our family’s Advent Calendar. I wanted to make a cute Advent Calendar with all of you, I hope it will become one of your family traditions too.
The supplies I will be using for this are:
1. Interchangeable Calendar from Dollar Tree
2. Wooden Christmas tree ornament from Dollar Tree
3. Scissors and paper cutter
4. Assorted Scrapbook paper and brown shipping paper
5. Small Star of any kind
6. Brown paint and foam paintbrush
7. Mod Podge, glue sticks and glue gun
8. Stickers or Vinyl lettering (I can cut any vinyl for you)
The first thing I did was unscrew the gold hooks from the calendar.
Then I cut some buffalo check scrapbook paper (to fit the calendar square) and mod podged that on.
I also took some green scrapbook paper and covered the wooden Christmas tree ornament. (I traced the tree outline on the paper.) Then mod podged the paper onto the tree.
Next I took the brown paint and foam brush and lightly brushed along the edges of the tree and wooden calendar piece. (This is just to give it an antiqued look.)
I cut a piece of red scrapbook paper 2″ x 8.5″ and a white piece of scrapbook paper 1.25 X 8.5. I lightly brushed the brown paint around the edges of both the red and white paper.
Then I mod podged the white paper to the center of the red paper then took that and glued it to the bottom of the calendar board.
I grabbed my “Countdown to Christmas” vinyl, centered that on the white paper and stuck it down.
Then I grabbed the tree cutout and hot glued it to the board. I added this darling doily star to the top with some hot glue. (You can use any small star.)
Next I took all of the tags and mod podged them onto the brown shipping paper. I cut each of them out and took some brown paint and lightly antiqued the edges with brown paint.
Then I placed the number stickers, or vinyl, to each tag (you will need numbers 0-9 with two each of numbers 1 & 2.)
