Spring is coming and I love this time of year. All of the trees sprouting blossoms, the tulips and daffodils blooming, and who doesn’t love the fragrant smell of flowers in the air.
I wanted to share with you how to make a darling Farmhouse inspired “Welcome Spring” sign.
Here are the Supplies you will need to make this Sign –
-
This Silver Oval Tin Serving Tray from the DOLLAR TREE
-
Cream Chalk Paint or any Cream Paint you have (I used Folkart Paint in the Color Sheepskin)
-
Antique Wax or watered down Brown paint (I used Waverly Antique Wax)
-
A Paintbrush ( I used a Chip Brush)
-
Welcome Spring Vinyl Decal (You can Purchase this one from me for $5.00)
-
A Squeegee to apply the Decal to the tray (You could also use a credit card)
The First thing I did was to paint the Oval Silver Tray with 2 Coats of my Folkart Sheepskin Chalk Paint. Make sure you allow the paint to dry between coats. (You can use any paint you have, just make sure the tray is covered well.)
I painted both the front and back of the Tray. It is not necessary to paint the back, but I’m kinda OCD about that. Hahahahaha!!!!
The next step is to take your Waverly Wax Paint (You can also use watered down Brown paint) and a dry chip brush. I dipped the end of my chip brush into the Antique Wax and then tapped most of it out onto a piece of paper. Then very lightly dry brushed the wax over the tray, on the front and back. This adds a lot of Character and brings out the DARLING DETAIL on the edge of the Tray. I love how it turned out. Make sure to let this dry completely before the next step.
The last step is to add your “Welcome Spring” Vinyl Decal to the painted Tray. Again you can purchase this Decal from me for $5.00, or make your own.
Before you apply the Decal you want to make sure it is centered and where you want it on the Tray. I put creases in the transfer tape so I could line it up exactly where I want it.
I then peeled the backing paper off of the Decal and placed it back on the tray where I had made the creases. After you have it down and placed where you want it, take the squeegee and firmly add pressure over the tape and secure the Decal to your Tray. (Don’t mind my squeegee, it’s a Hot mess, I have used it for a very long time.)
Then you simply peel back the Transfer Tape and your Vinyl Decal should stick down and stay in place on the Tray.
That’s it, you are done. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!!!! It turned out so stinking cute! I am completely in love with it, and the Tray only cost me a DOLLAR. I put mine on an easel and set it on my Entryway Table. You could also put a hanger on it and hang it up if you’d like. I hope you will all try making this!!! If you do, please post a picture on my Facebook Page “Crafting with Holly”, so we all can see. This is definitely HOLLY APPROVED!
