Total Time: 6 hours 40 minutes
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup sugar sprinkles
In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar on high until creamy.
Add eggs and lemon extract and beat until smooth.
- In a separate bowl sift flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda.
Then add to the mixing bowl, and beat on low until combined.
Wrap cookie dough in cling wrap and place in the fridge for at least 6 hours, I have found that overnight is the best.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Then on a floured surface roll cookie dough out to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out hearts with a cookie cutter.
Place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Then add sprinkles.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Then cool on a cookie rack. Serve and enjoy!
