It’s almost that time of year where we honor our Amazing Country and Flag. Kelly joined the United States Army a year after we were married. During the time he was serving our Country, I learned to love and honor our Flag more deeply than I ever have before. When I see our Great Flag Flying tears well up in my eyes.
To start my Americana Crafting I wanted to make this Darling Framed Flag!!! It turned out so cute and was super easy to make.
Materials
-
5 x 7 Picture Frame (any one you like)
-
Red Fabric
-
Blue Fabric
-
Cream Lace Ribbon ( I got mine from Dollar Tree)
-
Star printout (I just googled Star Image and printed it on my printer.)
-
Cream decorative rick-rack for the Star (I got mine at Michaels)
-
Scissors, Glue Gun, and Glue Sticks
The first thing I did was take the Picture Frame apart. I removed the backing, paper & glass from the frame. I just threw away the paper insert.
Now just set aside the glass and frame. You will be decorating the backing of the picture frame.
Next I took the Red fabric and cut it into “three” 1 x 8 inch strips. I also took the cream lace ribbon and cut “four” pieces 8 inches long.
Now take the strips of Fabric and Ribbon and simply glue them to the backing of the frame. I used Hot Glue to glue them down.
Once the hot glue is dry and the fabric secure, trim around the backing so the edges are nice and clean.
Next I took my blue fabric and cut a rectangle 4 x 2 1/2 inches and hot glued it down in the top left corner.
Now it’s time to make the Star. I printed the Star, then took my scissors to cut it out.
Once the Star was cut out, I flipped it over to the white side of the paper, so the blue wouldn’t show through. I then took this darling rick-rack and glued it down to the Star. I love the little bit of silver in the rick-rack. Isn’t it so cute?
Then you just take that cute Star and hot glue it to the center of your Blue fabric.
