In this BLOG I am going to show you how I make this Darling Christmas Present Bow. It adds the perfect finishing touch to all of my Christmas Presents. You might think I’m crazy, but it gives each present a little bit of my own personal touch.
Supplies Needed
- 4 or 5 different types and colors of Ribbon
- Burlap Ribbon
- White Berries (you can use any color you like.)
- Jute String
- A wooden Stocking cut out (optional)
- Wooden Button
- Hello Hobby finishing wax in Antique
- Paint Brush
- Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
- Scissors
Step 1
So the first thing I did was cut, two, 7 inch strips of each type of ribbon. I used 5 different types of ribbon for this bow.
Step 2
The next step is to take all of your pieces of ribbon and start crisscrossing them on top of each other. Layering the different colors as you go. I like to start with the Burlap ribbon to give strength at the base of the bow. The picture below shows how the ribbon looks as I’m stacking it.
Step 3
After I have gotten all my pieces of ribbon stacked the way I want them, I am going to use a piece of jute string to tie them together. I cut myself a 12 inch piece of the string and then tied a basic knot right in the center of all the ribbon. Make sure to pull the string nice and tight before you knot it, and then voila you have a little bow. Isn’t that so cute? And it’s so easy! Like the easiest thing you’ll ever do. Next take your time to fluff all the ribbons out because you want to see them all. I also took some white berries and arranged them nicely on top of the bow. I tied them to the bow with the same piece of jute string.
Step 4
To finish off the bow I am going to add a wooden button in the center. I also wanted to hang this cute little wooden stocking ornament down from it. Before I added the wooden stocking and button, I took my Hello Hobby finishing wax in Antique and painted them both. Look how cute they are all stained! Make sure after you stain the stocking to take the little string that comes with it, and thread it through the hole so you can hang it on your bow.
Step 5
Now you are going to take the stocking and tie the little string around the center of the bow. I like to make sure the stocking hangs down from the bow, so don’t tie it to tight. Look how cute it looks! To keep the string in place I add hot glue to the back of the button and glue it right over the string and in the center of the bow. So Stinking Cute!!!!
Step 6
To finish off this darling Christmas present bow, I added a little tag to it. I print the name of the person I’m giving the gift to, and attach it to the tag. Easy Peasy and so FUN!!! Every bow is individual and customizable. To attach my bows to my presents I use a little dollop of hot glue.
Look how Beautiful the present looks when you are done!
