I really love Old Rustic Iron pieces in my home. They can be very expensive to purchase though. I found this plastic garden gate at the Dollar Tree and just knew I could make a DARLING decorative piece, with it that looked like iron. I’m so excited to show you how I made it! I think it turned out absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Instructions
The first thing you are going to do is grab the plastic garden gate and trim off the 3 spikes from the bottom. Then on both sides there are pieces that are used to hook the gates together, cut those off also.
I just used scissors to cut the pieces off.
It will go from looking like this……..
to this…….
Now take your scissors and cut the garden gate in half. I tried my best to cut right down the middle so both sides were even.
Next I grabbed my two pieces of the gate and took them outside to spray paint. I used Rust-oleum spray paint in the color Heirloom White. I applied two coats of spray paint to both the front and the back, This was what they looked like after I painted them and they were dry.
Mow take your Waverly Wax in Antique and a chip brush and add some dimension to both pieces of the gate. I lightly brushed the Waverly Wax over each piece to give it a worn and antiqued look. I love how it turned out.
Now you want to connect both pieces together. I made sure to lay it so both bottoms of the gate were together, Then I took my hot glue gun and applied glue all along the bottoms and hooked them together. It looked like this when I was done,
To add a little more stability, where I glued the ends together, I took 4 pieces of cream string (I used yarn) and tied the 2 pieces together like this,
Once they were tied nice and tight I clipped the ends of the strings off and my Faux Iron Decorative Piece was finished. I cannot even believe how BEAUTIFUL and REALISTIC it turned out. It looks just like Iron!!!!!!
I had this DARLING Wreath and decided to hook it to the front. I thought it was the perfect finishing touch. Just look how BEAUTIFUL it is in this wall grouping!!!! It looks like I spent a lot of money on and iron piece, but it only cost me a Dollar.
I hope you all will make one for your HOME!
