Who doesn’t love Spring? I remember as a little girl I found a Robin Nest in one of the trees by my house. Ever since then I have loved nests and the beautiful bright blue eggs you find inside. I thought it would be fun to create a birds nest, blue eggs and all. It just brightens up my day when I look at it sitting on my Entry Way table. I absolutely LOVE how it turned out, and it looks so REAL!!!!!!!!
MATERIALS
-
Plastic Bowl (I used a Gladware container)
-
Dried Grass (I went outside and pulled up dried grass from a field)
-
Spanish Moss
-
Glue Gun and LOTS of Glue Sticks
-
Blue Eggs (I bought mine at Michaels)
-
Scissors
Instructions
The first thing I did was take my Gladware Bowl and cut it down. You want your bowl to be between 2 1/2 to 3 inches deep. This makes the nest look more realistic.
Next is the really MESSY and FUN part. I first took the dried grass and started gluing it to the bowl. It takes a lot of glue, I just want you to be prepared!!!! I kept gluing and shaping the grass to the bowl until it was completely covered, Make sure to add grass to the inside of the bowl also. After I was happy with how the grass looked, I took my Spanish Moss and glued that over the top of the grass. You don’t want to put a lot of Spanish Moss because you still want to see the dried grass peeking through. It is IMPORTANT to keep shaping the nest while you are gluing. (I am posting the video below of how I made the nest so you can watch the process.)
In the end my nest looked like this. I am so HAPPY with how it turned out!!!!!!!!!!!
Now grab your eggs and glue them down into the nest with hot glue. I used these beautiful blue eggs that I got from Michaels.
You guys look how absolutely Beautiful and Realistic this NEST turned out!!!!!! It really does make my Heart Happy. Please give it a try, you will not be disappointed. I will, forever and always, be using this nest in my Spring Decor !!!!!!!! It is definitely HOLLY APPROVED!
This is Holly, doing what I love!
