Here is what you need to make Chessmen Cookie Pie Crust:
Tools:
- 9-inch Pie Plates
- Measuring Cups
- Rolling Pin
- Small Microwave-safe Bowl
Ingredients:
- 1 sleeve of Saltine crackers
- 1 sleeve of Ritz crackers
- 1/2 package of Pepperidge Farm Chessmen butter cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
Instructions:
Prepare the Crumb Mixture:
Combine the crushed Saltine crackers, Ritz crackers, and Chessmen butter cookies in a gallon-sized Ziploc bag. Using a rolling pin, crush the mixture until it resembles fine sand.
Incorporate the Butter and Sugar:
Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
Add the melted butter and sugar to the bag of crumb mixture.
Seal the bag and work the butter into the crumbs by gently kneading and massaging the bag with your hands. Ensure that all the crumbs are evenly coated with butter.
Prepare the Pie Crust:
Take two pie plates and divide the crust mixture between them, using about 1 1/2 cups for each pie plate.
Press the mixture firmly onto the bottom and sides of the pie plates to form an even crust. The buttery richness of the Chessmen cookies will help bind the crust together.
Bake and Cool:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the pie plates with the crusts in the oven and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t overgrow.
Once the crusts are lightly golden and fragrant, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely before adding your desired fillings.
One of my favorite pies to use, the Chessmen Cookie Pie Crust, is my No-Baked Peach Pie.
Notes:
I sometimes like using this Chessmen Cookie Pie Crust instead of graham cracker crust to change it up. It is not as sweet as graham cracker crust, which I like when the pie filling is extra sweet. My Key Lime Pie recipe is one of my other favorite pies to use this Chessmen Cookie Pie Crust. I hope you will give it a try.
In Conclusion:
The Chessmen Cookie Pie Crust is a delightful creation that combines the savory crunch of Saltine and Ritz crackers with the buttery elegance of Chessmen cookies. This recipe offers a fantastic alternative to the usual pie crust, adding a touch of whimsy and flavor to your favorite pie fillings. Whether you’re making a classic fruit pie, a velvety chocolate cream pie, or a luscious custard creation, this crust will provide an irresistible contrast that will impress your taste buds and guests.
