Round America Sign

I love the 4th of July and I love our BEAUTIFUL Flag. This Darling Sign is so perfect for any Americana Decor. It makes me want some Parade Candy and a Snow Cone!!!!! I can’t wait to Celebrate our Country’s Birthday. I hope you all enjoy my step by step blog and will make this fun little sign.

Materials

  • Round piece of wood. (I used a sign from Dollar Tree that I got during Christmas time.)

  • Cream, Red, Gold, and Blue Paint

  • Large Craft Sticks

  • America Stencil

  • Jute String

  • Painters Tape (not pictured)

  • Scissors

  • Paintbrushes

  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

The first thing I did was paint my round wooden piece with my cream chalk paint. I gave it two good coats to make sure it was nice and covered.

After the paint was dry I took my painters tape and sectioned off the top portion so I could paint it with my Navy Blue paint.

Now just paint the top with the Navy Blue paint. Easy Peasy. Once the blue paint is dry remove the tape and hopefully you will have a straight line.

Now it is time to grab your craft sticks. I cut the top of each craft stick into a straight line using scissors. Then I painted them with my red paint. I used more of a maroon color. I used 5 craft sticks.

Next take one of your craft sticks and hot glue it to the center of your board. I just eyeballed it, but you can measure if you want to. Then I took a plain craft stick and put it next to my center one to make sure they were evenly spaced. Then glue down your next painted stick and move outward to each side. I hope that makes sense.

When all the sticks are glued down it should look like this. To finish the edges I flipped my sign over and cut the sticks along the edge of the circle. This is to make sure the craft sticks stay nice and rounded and even with the board.

Now that is done it is time to add the america stencil to the top. I cut a piece of vinyl and used it for my stencil. I centered it onto the blue part of my sign like this.

I decided to use Metallic Gold Paint to fill in the America stencil. I thought it would add a lot to the sign and it really did. Look how BEAUTIFUL it turned out.

The very last step is to take some jute string and add a hanger to your sign. Make sure to add a lot of hot glue so the jute string is nice and secure!! You don’t have to do this step but I dry brushed my whole sign with some Waverly Wax in Antique to give it a more Rustic look.

I love how it turned out and I love it hanging in my Entryway. It reminds me of an old Route 66 sign. It couldn’t be any cuter!!!! I will use it for many years to come.
