This has to be one of my favorite crafts I have ever made!!! It is so simple, yet so beautiful. I never thought I could turn a piece of cardboard into this AMAZING Bunny!! If you love Rustic Decor then this is for you.
The Supplies you will need are:
-
A piece of cardboard big enough to trace the bunny outline on. My piece of cardboard was 6″x8″.
-
A bunny pattern. I went on Google and typed in Bunny outline. I copied and pasted it into Microsoft word, made it the size I wanted and printed it out.
-
Spanish Moss (I got mine from Dollar Tree)
-
A piece of Barn Wood. I cut mine 3″ wide by 7″ long.
-
A Pom Pom for the tail.(not pictured) I made mine out of yarn.
-
Assorted ribbon, raffia and button for the Bow.
-
Small square block of wood and a tumbling tower block. (Both from Dollar Tree)
-
Glue gun and Scissors
The very first thing I did was take my Bunny Pattern, and trace it onto my piece of cardboard..
Then I took my scissors and cut the Bunny out.
Once I had it cut out, the FUN began. I applied a generous amount of hot glue to a portion of the bunny, and pressed the Spanish Moss into the glue. Doing a portion at a time ensured the hot glue wouldn’t dry before I applied the Spanish Moss.
Keep repeating the process until your Bunny is completely covered in Spanish Moss. Don’t worry if the moss looks messy, because we will be giving the Bunny a hair cut!!!
The next thing I did was flip the bunny over to the back side and started to trim the moss. It was easier for me to see where to trim it from the back side. I love how it turned out. If there are any long pieces that need to be trimmed on the front you can also do that.
Now grab your Ribbon and Raffia and make a bow. I made mine by crisscrossing the ribbon and raffia. I tied it together with a piece of jute string and then glued this darling button to the center.
Also grab a pom pom for the Bunnies tail. You can purchase a pom pom or make your own. I made mine out of some cream yarn. It turned out so cute!!!!!
Now to add the finishing touches. Take the tail and bow, and hot glue them to the Bunny. I placed the bow on the bunnies neck. So Cute!!!!!!!
So I could attach him to the Barn Wood, I glued a small square block of wood to the back of his front leg and a tumbling tower block to the back of his hind leg. I got both pieces of wood at the Dollar Tree.
The last step is to glue him to your piece of barn wood. Apply hot glue to the bottom of both pieces of wood. Make sure the Bunny is nice and centered before you glue him into place.
